The Rural Voice, 1994-09, Page 64GREY County Federation of Agriculture NEWSLETTER 446 10th St., Hanover, Ontario N4N 1P9 519-364-3050 • The Rural Voice is provided to all Grey County Farmers by the GCFA. Now that you're a member, why not get involved This last year has seen fundamental changes to the funding of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and their affiliated county federations. It appears that some measure of "Stable Funding" has been achieved through the Farmer Registration Act. Many farmers have become new members of one of the two accredited GFOs, Christian Farmers and Ontario Federation of Agriculture. This represents a formidable REGIONAL MEETING NOTICE MUNICIPAL ELECTION this fall What are the issues? Why should I care? You are invited to attend a meeting sponsored by Grey County Federation of Agriculture September 15, 1994 8:00 p.m. Annesley United Church, Hwy. 10, Markdale Panel Discussion Sharon Johnston District Manager Central Ontario Land Use Planning Branch, OMAFRA, Toronto George McGibbon, sub consultant to Monteith Zelinka Ltd. of London Ezio Nadalin Grey County Area Planner, MNR, Owen Sound Bring your ideas and concerns, and be heard! This is also your opportunity to elect the people who represent you at the OFA Provincial Board and your Delegates to Convention. These representatives will be your voice in policy decisions for the coming year. 60 THE RURAL VOICE challenge to these GFOs, to earn the confidence their old and new members have placed in them. But the challenge docs not end with the GFOs. The new members (and the old ones), must participate actively in choosing the direction THEIR Federation will take in the coming year. The opportunity for this participation comes every year at the "Regional Meeting", when Delegates are chosen to represent the county at the OFA Annual Convention in Toronto during the last week in November. As well, the offices of "Regional Director", of which Grey County has three, arc open for election every year. It is these Regional Directors that attend monthly OFA board meetings in Toronto as representatives of the Grey County Federation. They take direction from the Grey County Federation Board of Directors to the Ontario body, and report back to the county on the deliberations and decisions made in Toronto. It is the responsibility and the right of the membership to Bentinck Township Federation of Agriculture is sponsoring a Craft, Hobby, Services, Cottage and Business Industry Day Saturday, September 24, 1994 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Farm Select Sales Barn, Hwy. #4, Durham Bentinck Township residents will be given priority for a booth Registrations are being accepted now.
