Now that you're a member, why not get involved
This last year has seen
fundamental changes to the funding
of the Ontario Federation of
Agriculture and their affiliated county
federations. It appears that some
measure of "Stable Funding" has
been achieved through the Farmer
Registration Act.
Many farmers have become new
members of one of the two accredited
GFOs, Christian Farmers and Ontario
Federation of Agriculture.
This represents a formidable

challenge to these GFOs, to earn the
confidence their old and new
members have placed in them.
But the challenge docs not end
with the GFOs. The new members
(and the old ones), must participate
actively in choosing the direction
THEIR Federation will take in the
coming year. The opportunity for
this participation comes every year at
the "Regional Meeting", when
Delegates are chosen to represent the
county at the OFA Annual
Convention in Toronto during the last
week in November.
As well, the offices of "Regional
Director", of which Grey County has
three, arc open for election every
year. It is these Regional Directors
that attend monthly OFA board
meetings in Toronto as
representatives of the Grey County
Federation. They take direction from
the Grey County Federation Board of
Directors to the Ontario body, and
report back to the county on the
deliberations and decisions made in
Toronto. It is the responsibility and

we arc planning a panel discussion on
topics of local concern, such as the
proposed new Grey County Official
Plan, including the "Resource Maps",
agricultural and rural designations,
ANSIs, wetlands and hazard lands,
which will be incorporated into the

about the Waste Management Master

want to introduce.
Panel members include Sharon
