There are four main sections on the BBS: bulletins, databases, files and messages. You can select any of these areas. The bulletins, for instance, are short text files that are updated on a regular basis, such as market reports and news, as well as some information items about FMBInet. Many of the bulletins can be downloaded onto your own computer so your can read them at your leisure, or have them printed off on your printer. The database section of the BBS currently includes a listing of 750 software programs available for farm management across North America and another file on success stories in rural community development. More databases are expected to be added soon. The files section of the BBS contains shareware computer programs available for you to transfer (download) to your own computer to use in your farm management, everything from word - From press releases to farm management computer programs, FMBInet offers plenty of options processing programs to Lotus 1-2-3 templates. The messages centre is where you can communicate with others on the FMBInet in Ontario or across Canada. There are interest areas or echoes, including farm finance, crop production, livestock production, marketing, agrifood processing, coast-to-coast chat, news releases and netmail in which you can leave your message. If you post a message in an FMBInet echo, your message will be repeated on all the FMBInet bulletin boards across Canada. If you ask a question about beef production a producer in Nova Scolia or British Columbia might have the answer for you. The more people participate in the BBS, the more chance there is that someone has the solution to your problem.
