After bringing up the subject of the Walkerton PUC's involvement with the match, Roe contemplated that the Tented City committee could be compared to the PUC since like the PUC supplies much of a village's needs, the Tented City Committee supplies the tented community with all of the utilities they need, like the aforementioned electricity and water. But the committee goes even further, providing other services such as garbage pickup, sewage and security. Like any community, people create loads of garbage, so the Tented City committee has arranged for a private contractor to drive a garbage compactor through the site every Like any community, the City will create loads of garbage night. Sewage storage and dispersal is another exigency in a Tented City. Like the garbage, the refuse from the portable toilets will be collected nightly and taken to a sewage treatment plant to be processed. The other sewage, known as "grey water", from the many caterers using sinks to wash dishes, will be dispersed using grey water pits. In all, the committee will install 75 of the 45 -gallon grey water pits in the ground where the waste will leach away into the soil through the pit's drain holes. If the process doesn't work, arrangements have been made to have the contents of the pits vacuumed out for transferral to a sewage treatment plant.
