STIR DRYING SAVES MONEY
Design III Stir-Ator is Engineered To
Do Just That --Save Money
A design III Stir-Ator turns any drying bin into a self
contained drying system. Get the drying capacity of
a large continuous flow system at less cost -- with
storage as a bonus. A Stir-Ator gives
you wet holding, drying, and storage,
all in the same drying bin. It also
loosens, mixes and circulates
grain so it dries faster. Save
money this harvest season with
a Design III Stir-Ator from DMC.

Advice
before parents, divorce, disability,
etc. Planning for all the things we
know will happen and all the things
we hope never will happen is a
daunting task. Anything we can do to
cover as many of these bases as
possible will make getting through
them much easier.
Taxes: Taxes are a big concern
for most farm families. The current
capital gains exemption has reduced
some of the impact of taxes on farm
transfers. However, sale of
inventory, recaptured depreciation,
some tax on capital gains, land
transfer tax, probate fees and
implications for social benefits can
make cash demands on a business
and the family. Planning early and
developing a continuous business
relationship with a good accountant
can help reduce any tax to be paid.
Planning: Starting early and
getting sound advice are the key
ingredients to any successful farm
transfer. Estate planning is really a
life-long process that involves
building wealth and transferring it in
a way that preserves that wealth.0

Verticillium Wilt
lowers alfalfa yields
Verticillium Wilt is a serious
disease of alfalfa that causes death of
alfalfa plants, reducing stands and
yields. The disease begins to appear
in second -year stands but is much
more severe in third- and fourth-year
stands.
Verticillium Wilt plugs the
"plumbing" of the alfalfa plant,
limiting movement of nutrients and
water from the root to the top of the
plant. Often the first sign of the
disease is a wilting of the plant, with
a dropping of tips during the heat of
the day. The disease is spread from
older infected fields to younger fields
by harvesting equipment.
In fields where the disease is
known to occur, growers plant
varieties resistant to the disease.
Alfalfa varieties are rated as being
resistant (R), moderately resistant
(MR) and susceptible (S) to the
disease.0 Brian Hall
