Krone/Niemeyer hay tools, Blu Jet
fertilizer and no -till equipment.
Business trends: There are major
increases in no -till related equipment.
Traditional tillage equipment is
showing significant decline. Grain
handling equipment is showing
significant growth.
Trimble expects no -till equipment
sales to accelerate even faster and ex-
pects growth in high -moisture baling
and wrapping equipment. Most other
areas have flat to reduced sales.
The on-going round of
amalgamations and buy-outs of farm
equipment companies has an effect
on Harco as a distributor that
competes with the main line
companies. When equipment is
dumped at fire sale prices the values
of equipment are distorted. Trimble
definitely foresees amalgamations
continuing. Some areas will be
without dealer representation for
some products as a result, he predicts,
although the "multi -line" dealer will
become more common. He expects to
see some parts -availability problems.
How have conditions of the
past year affected inventory?
Definitely the continually lower
margins mean continually reduced
inventory. "Farmers should expect to
see a major decline in available
inventory. They will not have the
luxury of ordering a week or two
before the season of use. Lead times
of one to six months will become
more common."
Lawn and garden equipment
carried: Lawn and garden
implements only: Worksaver, Seed
Easy, Cosmo, Kelley and Caroni.
What's new in lawn and garden
equipment?
Some new seeding/aeration and
seeder/packer machines are available
for larger homeowner and
commercial use.
