Let's stick to the facts
Adrian Vos (Animal Rights and
Health Myths, February 1993)
creates health myths in his effort to
destroy them.
Eating more foods that are low in
fat does reduce the risk of heart dis-
case. But contrary to Mr. Vos' claim,
high density lipoprotein (HDL) is not
the culprit, nor is it found in saturated
fat. Rather, HDL travels in the
bloodstream, and plays a role in
removing cholesterol from the body.

Providing the body with an excess
amount of fat, including saturated fat,
does raise blood cholesterol levels,
and the risk of heart disease.
Understanding the factors which
influence heart disease is difficult and
creates a lot of confusion. Let's stick
to the facts. A healthy diet, a healthy
body weight, not smoking and regular
exercise are lifestyle choices which
reduce the risk of heart disease.0
