HEART looks at emergency aid for farmers Agricultural organizations took the first steps in setting up Huron Emerg- ency Agricultural Response Team (HEART) to apply for emergency aid for farm families to meet immediate needs. Assistance will be sought from church and education groups, as well as the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF) to identify the needs of Huron County farm families for emergency situations. Winter information meetings are planned to outline credit programs available for the 1993 crop year. One promising program is the Commodity Profile — Bob Down Regional Director for South Huron Bob Down of R.R. 1, Hensall has been Regional Director for Huron South (Hay, Stephen & Usbome) for four years. Bob is a graduate of South Huron District High School, and Ridgctown Agriculture College. He farms, along with his wife Pat, in Usborne township on 590 acres which includes cash crop, mixed farming, beef and hogs. Bob is active in the community on the fair board, South Huron Hospital Board, South Huron Rec. Committee, Exeter United Church, chaired the Usborne Sesquicentennial in '91, on UCO Board as a Director for 12 years, the Co-op Insurance Board as a Director for six years and is currently involved in Ontario Corn Producers. Bob and Pat have four daughters and three grandchildrcn.0 Bob Down Loan Program, first instituted in 1992. Bankers in attendance stressed the importance of reviewing credit needs early.
