to "present" food to make it most
attractive. New equipment will also
be on display.
In the arts and crafts tent it's
hoped to have the works of 30-40
artists and craftsmen from Bruce as
well as the winning entries in the
Bruce quilt competition. Eight
quilts had already been promised.
All quilts will be on display at the
Mildmay Homecoming at the end
of July.
The horticultural division,
headed by Paul Ribey of Port Elgin,
will feature a quiet formal court
yard, a place for people to sit and
take a relaxing break from touring
the exhibits. Ribey said he hoped
the area would be sodded with a
waterfall or fountain to provide
something peaceful to look at.
There will also be horticultural
demonstrations.
Chris Johnston of Teeswater,
head of the entertainment and
education committee, said there
will be 60 time slots, 15 minutes
long, filled with entertainers young
and old from around the county,
youth choirs and speakers from the
schools. "We're trying to get people
from as many areas throughout the
county as possible," she said, in
inviting interested entertainers to
contact her to take part.
Marlene Davis, Dobbinton, head
of the day care committee, said the
Bruce match will be the first one
since Essex in 1988 to have a child
care centre on the grounds. The
centre will be in a large tent with a
fenced -in play area for up to 40
children from two and a half to
seven years of age. Early childhood
education graduates will be on hand
to oversee the centre, at no charge
to parents. There will be toys and
equipment and craft supplies to
entertain the youngsters and a pedal
tractor pull. A comfort station will
be set up for nursing mothers and
facilities will be available to parents
to change diapers.0
