Best of Bruce on
display at 1993
International
Plowing Match
The best of Bruce county will be
on view when the 1993
International Plowing Match is held
in Bruce County near Walkerton in
September.
Judy MacKinnon and Joan
Stewart of Paisley, co -chairpersons
of the Family Lifestyles Program
Committee at the Match, and their
committee members previewed
some of the features of their
program at a media night in Paisley
December 1.
Stewart said the name of the
division was changed from the
Ladies' Program to the Family
Lifestyles Program because its
exhibits will appeal to every
member of the family and to rural
and urban people.
From the time Dinah Christie
opens the program at 11 a.m.
September 21 until the end of the
match there will be a succession of
events to keep the various tents
busy, they promised. In the fashion
tent retailers from a different part of
the county will be featured on each
of the five days. Each day one
member of the audience will be
chosen for the "a new you"
demonstration in which she will be
given a makeover of hair and
makeup.
A sewing competition for people
over 18 and under 18 will be held in
the coming months, culminating on
June 21 with a fashion show. The
winncrs from the event will be part
of the fashion shows at the Match.
It's hoped the county's native
community will also take part in
some of the four -times -a -day
fashion shows from 9:30 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. Between events there will
be talks on fashion and decorating.
The food tent will feature a
Bruce County flavour. There will
be food demonstrations by people
from the county and farther afield.
There will also be recipes for and
by kids and demonstrations on how
