SURAL VOICE
THE MAGAZINE OF THE AGRICULTURAL INDUSTRY
The next few weeks will see
massive changes in the co-
operative movement in Ontario
as United Co-operatives of
Ontario moves to divest itself
of its 86 branches in Ontario,
turning them into new, locally
owned regional outlets. We'll
look at the reasons behind the
move. We'll also look at
Hensall Co-op, which could be
a model for the kind of
operation UCO is trying to set
up. Hensall Co-op Manager
Earl Wagner (right) tells the
story of his co-op's success.

Country people are
among the few who
can carry on the old
tradition of trekking to
the woods to cut the
Christmas tree. For
most people getting
the Christmas tree
means a visit to the
parking lot of a local
shop or buying one
from a volunteer
group. One group that
grows its own trees for
charity is the Owen
Sound Kiwanis Club.
The club owns its own
farm.
