to show symptoms of allergic reac-
tions from a body unable to cope with
accumulated poisons. The percentage
of the population suffering from aller-
gies is rising at an alarming rate, as is
the number of people experiencing a
complete breakdown of their immune
system. All because of these synthetic
materials accumulating and the inabili-
ty of the body to break them down and
eliminate them.
And don't let anybody scare us by
saying we would be facing crop fail-
ures, starvation and all the other dan-
gers, if "crop protection chemicals"
(what a fancy name for pesticides!)
were banned. Just look around and
tally up all the food that is wasted,
beginning with our modern harvesting
methods right down to the wasteful
methods of processing plants, super-
markets and restaurants!
The only reason the agri-chemical
industry is starting to clean up their act
is because of people's environmental
awareness and consumer pressure.
Thank you for letting me express
my opinion.

HAYING STORY A HIT
Just a note to tell you how much I
enjoyed the article by R. A. Fowler,
September 1991 issue. Will look for-

time in the 1940s in such a humourous
and detailed way, he certainly would
have had to "be there."
Thank you,

When you take inflation into ac-
count, the product prices being paid to
farmers today are actually lower than
they were in the depths of the Great
Depression in the 1930s. At the same
