NISA FORMS TO BE
MAILED IN JULY
Ontario is participating in Net In-
come Stabilization Account (NISA) for
the 1990 and 1991 tax years with full
participation to begin in the 1992 tax
year. NISA is a long term program.
However, for the 1990 tax year, it is also
the vehicle for short term federal assis-
tance.
Sometime in July, farmers will re-
ceive a NISA application form and bro-
chure in the mail, directly from the fed-
eral government. For answers to spe-
cific questions, farmers arc encouraged
to call the NISA hotline at 1-800-665-

This was the largest conference ever
held, and attracted delegates from over
17 countries from around the world.
Various topics that were covered in
the sessions included: production and
marketing, promotion, GAFTA con-
tracts, and the GATT.
The delegates chose Antalya, Tur-

OUR MISTAKE
There were several incorrect state-
ments in last months' issue on the white
bean tripartite payment.
Producers will receive a total payout
of about $7.50 per cwt. of which $2.45
has already been mailed. A retroactive
premium of 24%— about $18 million
will be shared equally by the federal and
provincial governments to pay off the
deficit in the plan. Producers will pay a
$1.50 premium to have 100 per cent of
their production enrolled in the pro-
gram.
