"What burns me the most is that by
selling hunting licenses, the ministry
of natural resources is INVITING
hunters onto my land."
The letter in your February issue
deals with the province's legal and
moral right to issue hunting licenses
that are valid on private land, and it
DOES apply to all rural landowners.
Hunting licenses ARE valid on private
land, be it farmed, fenced, cultivated,
posted, have trees less than two metres
(a sadistic joke), or otherwise.
I apologize to Mr. Taylor for my
UNEDUCATED point of view. I also
wish to convey my appreciation to Mr.
Taylor for providing me with this se-
cond opportunity to write on the sub-
ject of "property rights."

REFORM PARTY
FARM POLICY
Enclosed is a copy of an open
letter sent to Preston Manning, Leader
of the Reform Party of Canada.
We at the Bruce County Federation
of Agriculture take offence to your
statements in your press release of
April 8, 1991, saying "that it is time to
cut government programs to farmers."
We do not consider farm programs
as agriculture subsidies. Rather, we a-
gree with the Ontario agriculture mini-
ster that they are consumer subsidies
to keep the price of food artificially
low. We agree all subsidies should be
discontinued, but on a universal world
wide basis. This would include subsi-
dies for transit, towns, cities, villages,
for roads, sewage, water, etc., which is
much larger than the total agricultural
budget, which is only one per cent of
the total federal budget.
We fail to see how reducing sup-
port to the consumer through agricul-
tural assistance will reduce the nation-
al debt, given that what the Ontario
budget is paying to farmers is approxi-
mately equal to the subsidy per person
of the subsidy to Toronto transit
riders.
