SLATTED FLOORING THAT DOESN'T
COSTA HOOF ANDA LEG .. .
Most concrete slats clean well, but sometimes this is done at the
expense of feet and legs.
At Design Concrete we have worked long and hard perfecting a
flooring system that minimizes injuries.
Owners are reporting a dramatic reduction in problems compared to
either solid concrete or other slatted systems.
If you are considering renovating or expanding - give us a call.
You and your cows will be glad you did.

well acquainted with that soil condi-
tion. Although it has good drainage,
Midge recommends clearing as many
stones as possible with a stone rake.
Once you have the soil condi-
tioned, you are ready to plant. The
kids and I collected a couple of trailer
loads of leaves from a delighted friend
last fall. I have the use of a leaf
shredder and I can hardly wait to get
busy this month chopping these leaves
to add to the new garden. I expect to
see a real lift to the plants tagged for
removal to the new garden.
Here is one final point I would like
to leave with you for this very
beautiful garden month. Three years
ago a visiting friend from New
Zealand made me up a pail of manure
tea to feed my vegetable garden. He
didn't really have a recipe or know
how much manure went into the pail.
He left the mess to steep for a couple
of days and then poured it on. This
winter, I discovered a recipe for
manure tea and will be prepared for
those nutritious demands the tomatoes
and the corn make on the soil. With
this extra boost, I am looking forward
to an exceptional crop this year.
Manure Tea
(for your hungry plants)
Place about one pound of manure
in a bucket and fill with water. Let the
mixture sit for a day, then use the
liquid on all plants following about the
same schedule as that for side dress-
ing. Apply evenly under the edge of
the foliage of a row of plants; this
conserves the fertilizer and ensures
that the plants are not overfed. When
you set out your transplants use this
mixture every couple of weeks to give
them an added boost.
This recipe is courtesy of The
Harrowsmith Northern Gardener by
Jennifer Bennett. This book has
proven its value over and over again
with useful tips geared to Canada.
Happy gardening even if you don't
like to garden but enjoy the end
results. Take some tea and a dozen
favourite cookies and visit a friend
with a garden. There is nothing nicer
than a spot of tea with the beauty of a
garden all around you.0
