The Rural Voice, 1990-09, Page 54NEWS CONSERVATION AWARDS IN HURON COUNTY (Above) Peter and Norma Oldridge accept a Conservation Award Certificate from Norman Haid of the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) in Huron County last month. The Oldridges — their son Brian also received the award — have made many improvements to their 1,060 -acre farm in Morris Township. They have adopted conservation tillage practices, established buffer strips, implemented cover - crop techniques, and used crop rotation. Wetland areas on the property have been preserved, windbreaks planted, and chemical fertilizers reduced. The Oldridges received the Norman Alexander Conservation Award in 1989.
