NEW ALFALFAS
FROM PIONEER
Pioneer is introducing two alfalfa
varieties for silage and hay producers.
Pioneer 5311, a medium maturity
variety, yields extremely well in its first
year after seeding and will increase in
yield advantage in its second year.
This leafy variety has excellent
winter hardiness and will regrow rap-
idly after cutting, allowing three cuts in
a well-managed stand.
It has excellent resistance against
bacterial wilt, fusarium wilt, phyto-
phthora root rot, and potato leafhopper.
Pioneer 5364, an early maturity vari-
ety adapted to a wide range of soil types
and environments, provides excellent
winter hardiness and will increase in
yield in its second and third year of
production.
A tall and showy variety, 5364 per-
forms well in two, three, or four -cut
systems because of its extremely rapid
regrowth.
It has moderate to high resistance to
verticillium wilt, bacterial wilt, fusar-
ium wilt, phytophthora root rot, spotted
aphid, and pea aphid.0
