COLOSTRUM INTAKE
The Colostrodoser from Shur -Gain
is a tool used to adjust the intake of
colostrum during the first 24 hours of a
calf's life.
Its red scale adjusts the colostrum,
and its green scale measures the content
of immunoglobulines in the colostrum.
The Colostrodoser removes the
guesswork from feeding colostrum, and
suggests a minimum intake to build the
optimum possible immunity to diseases
in calves.
It also identifies colostrum with a
low content of immunoglobulines,
which should not be offered to calves
during their first 24 hours. Shur -Gain
points out that up to 15 per cent of
colostrum is of inferior quality.
And the Colostrodoser identifies
colostrum with a high content of immu-
noglobulines so that the surplus of this
colostrum can be frozen and stored.
