2 THE RURAL VOICE
Feedback
Danish energy
co-operative
beneficial to all
The message of John Beardsley's
column in the August issue certainly
hit home with me.
Corporations taking over the wind
energy business with wind farms
containing up to 100 turbines is not
an ideal solution for the rural
economy.
To go the co-operative, farmer -
friendly way, like Danish farmers did,
will be much more beneficial all
around.
Taking advantage of Ontario's
Standard Offer Contract program
should give individual investors the
assurance that their money will be
safe and give them guaranteed
returns. Local communities will
benefit from money remaining in
rural areas instead of sent off to often
far -away company shareholders.
Smaller projects make more sense,
too, since the power will be sent to
the distribution grid instead of to the
high-voltage transmission lines.
Thank you for those informative
