HCFA supports farmers' property rights
The Huron Federation of
Agriculture has submitted a letter of
support to the Ontario Farm
Environmental Coalition on the
proposed Clean Water Act with
emphasis placed on Property Rights
being respected.
• Farmers need adequate
representation on committees with
alternates being able to attend in
place of designate.
• Any impacted landowners must
have opportunity to address the issue.
• The Huron Federation of
Agriculture has a present membership
of 2,031 and are very active in
agriculture and rural community in
Huron County.0
OFA Presidential tour comes to Huron
On Friday, February 10 OFA
President Ron Bonnett and OFA
Vice -President Paul Mistele made
several stops in Huron County to visit
with local farmers.
From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. the
two presidents were in Hensall at the
Community Centre to meet with local
farmers and concerned citizens to
discuss the severe concern in
agriculture today. Following the
Hensall meeting Ron Bonnett and
Paul Mistele met for a "working
lunch meeting" at the Huron
Federation office in Vanastra with the
Board of Directors of the Huron
County Federation. The Board
members who attended the luncheon
meeting had an interesting lively

Resolutions sent
The following two resolutions were sent
to OFA Board meeting in Toronto from the
Huron County Federation of Agriculture
meeting:
• That OFA immediately take any and all
action necessary to resolve the farm
income crisis.
• That OFA encourage the lending
institutions to establish a moratorium on all
farm foreclosures.
• Whereas farmers are thankful for
government support and whereas FIP
payments have been received in the fall of
2005 with no explanation: be it resolved
that we request that future payment include
a statement explaining how the payments
(figures) were arrived at.0

Farm Rallies held
Farm Rallies were held in Toronto on
February 8; in Guelph at OMAFRA
February 14; and in Ottawa February 21.
Several Huron Federation members
attended the one in Toronto, a busload of
farmers attended the Guelph rally, as well
as several others drove on their own.0
