The funding levels now available in the program make it attractive but there are still some large operators who haven't done anything to comply, Nichols says, and he's not sure how that will shake out. He's also concerned about farmers in the 150-300 NU category for whom no funding has been announced yet. "A lot of them know they have a problem and they're anxious to get on and fix it," he said but if they take action at this point it means writing their own cheques. If you have 280 NU, you have no funding while someone with 300 NU can get 90 per cent funding for a solution. "A big part of Ontario agriculture is in the 150-350 NU range," Nichols notes. "Lots of small operators need help.
