AGRI-TRAC is all over grooving, scabbling &
rubber flooring. Improved Cow Performance
Now A recent innovation uses a special
machine to roughen concrete surfaces and pre-
cast slats The process covers tt a entire floor
removing about an eighth o' an inch of the
surface leaving a corduroy look
The inventor of the Agri -Trac process Tom
Woodall of Woodstock. Ontario has been in the
dairy barn renovation business since 1975 and
has re -surfaced dairy. beet & horse barn floors
throughout Canada and the U.S since 1993
Agri -Trac stops slippage before it begins
Increased confidence in the animals from sure
footing causes a dramatic reduction in cull -rate
due to injuries & a marked improvement in heat
detection This results in improved milk
production as well as a reduction in loot and leg
problems by eliminating the "slip & catch'
concept of grooving and scabbling that results in
delaminations of the hoof leading to laminitis
and lameness.
Many producers. hoof -trimmers and
veterinarians feel the process aids in avoiding
strawberry hoof rot (hairy wart) because of less
manure in the floor surface compared to
grooving and scabbling. Grooved floors actually
hold 4 times more liquid and manure than
roughened floors and take longer to dry. giving
the bacteria a much better environment to exist
than an AGRI-TRAC surface.
"Cow comfort is a huge factor in farm
profitability and this system provides that says
veterinarian Dr. Wayne Shewfelt of Tavistock.
Ontario.
