The Phillips brothers find and restore the ultimate in equipment from the
time when corn -picking was the preferred harvest technique
Story and photos by Elyse DeBruyn
When it came time to harvest
corn 40 years ago, the
height of convenience
would have been the Minneapolis
Moline uni-system corn picker and
combine that two Lucknow-area
brothers have restored to its former
glory.
Recently Fred and Ken Phillips
showed off their refinished 1950-51
corn picker at the annual Threshers'
Reunion in Blyth.
About four or five years ago the
brothers, stumbled upon the rare uni-
system corn picker and combine.
Fred Phillips sits on the seat of the
self-propelled Miinneapolis Moline
uni-system corn -picker (right) he
and his brother Ken restored.
Below, he looks at the combine
attachment.
