County Federation of Agriculture NEWSLETTER
Courtesy of Keystone Agricultural
Producers, Manitoba
Farm communities in Canada were
built by neighbours helping
neighbours, and that bond needs to be
restrengthened NOW more than ever.
In uncertain times caused by BSE,
drought, and all of the other risks in
farming, Keystone Agricultural
Producers would like to encourage
farmers to remember to reach out to
their families and their communities.
We have all seen firsthand the
caring and support for farm families
from communities across Canada, but
in the spirit of "acting locally", take a
few moments to consider what you
can do to help your neighbour.
Forum provides well
information
"Well aware", a public forum to
provide you with the facts you need
to know about caring for your water
well will be held on Wednesday,
November 5 at Exeter Arena, • 94
Victoria Street. Topics to be
discussed include locating a new
well, well construction, maintenance,
and upgrading, proper plugging and
sealing of unused wells, testing well
water quality regularly, hiring
licensed contractors, groundwater
basics, water treatment as a last
resort, septic system location and
best management practices and how
you can help protect groundwater
sources.

Members Welcome!
64 THE RURAL VOICE
Remember your neighbour
Perhaps you know a farmer facing
significant difficulties. Is there
something that you can do to provide
support?
It might be as simple as going out
for a cup of coffee to listen to their
concerns. You may want to provide a
list of resources to help deal with
their particular situation.
' The Rural Voice is provided to all farmers
in Huron County by the HCFA.
The strength of every community
depends on the commitment of the
people within it.
So, remember to look after
yourself, your family and your
community. If you need help, don't
be afraid to ask. A good place to start
