It was established in 1978 by Bruce Hislop as a home-based business called Perth FM Communications specializing in sales and service of two-way radio equipment. Supported by clientele in agriculture, local manufacturing, government, small business and emergency services the company grew and moved its premises to Griffith Rd. in Stratford. In 1990 Perth FM Communications became an authorized Motorola Two - Way Radio dealer, a designation it continues to hold today. In fact, the company has earned Motorola's "Award of Excellence" for achievement in five of the past six years. Paging services, the introduction of cellular phone technology and a widening range of products and services contributed to the growth of the company. This led to 2 further moves, the last in 1996 to 400 Huron Street in Stratford. At that time the company dropped the FM from its name to better reflect the various wireless technologies it offered. In the past 18 months, Perth Communications has entered an alliance of Motorola radio dealers developing a new wide -area "trunked" two-way radio network. The new network utilizes "PassPort" technology that automatically assigns available channels when and where they are needed, to provide two-way users with access to a large interconnected tower system. Bruce Hislop is still owner and President of the company he started 25 years ago. He takes great pride in the excellent reputation for quality and service that Perth Communications has earned over the years. Bruce and all his staff (Tim, Angie, Cindie, Hannah, Susan, Jesse and Leighton) join in thanking their many customers for their loyal patronage.° OCTOBER 2003 57
