The Rural Voice, 2003-09, Page 33that if Doug Wagner had decided to
get his razor fixed somewhere else
one day 10 years ago, who knows
where Canada's Outdoor Farm Show
would be today.
It all started when Jocius saw
Wagner running across the street in
Guelph to get his razor repaired.
Jocius had been thinking about
starting a new venture — a unique
trade show geared towards
commercial farmers. His first step
was to build the right team.
With his many years of experience
and his expertise, Wagner was just
the right person to help run the show
smoothly. Jocius asked him to come
on board as Show Co-ordinator.
ocius's next step was to recruit
Henrietta Coole as the show's
Director of Client Relations. Her
experience in both client servicing
and marketing, combined with her
agricultural roots, proved to be the
right mix. Coole would focus her
efforts on client relations and
sponsorship.
The last member to join the core
team was Sales and Demonstration
Co-ordinator Clare Elston. Elston
had been highly recommended to
Jocius and was recruited just one
month before the first Show. His
experience in equipment sales and
distribution made him an obvious
choice for the position.
With his team assembled and his
family at his side, Jocius and his
dependable, hard-working crew
rolled out the first ever Canada's
Outdoor Farm Show at the Shur -Gain
Research Farm in Burford in 1994.
Since then the show has become
more and more a part of the Ontario
agricultural scene.0
