A number of industry
organizations and associations will
be showcasing their eco -friendly
products and technology as part of
the Eco Expo with its focus on
sustainable, alternative agriculture, .
"The Eco Expo has a real industry
focus this year," says Shelley Hand,
co-ordinator of the Expo."For
producers interested in knowing
about alternative agriculture, from
organic fertilizers to renewable
energy sources, this will be the place
to check it out."
The Expo features a diverse range
of exhibitors, including organic food
products and certification, bio fuels,
solar and wind energy and much
more. Various hemp associations will
also be promoting the wide range of
uses for this resilient crop.
Brenda Daniel, a speaker on the
Show's Family Program
lineup, will be talking about
home remedies that can be found in
your backyard. Daniel will also be
exhibiting in the Eco Expo, to
promote her "From the Meadow"
natural healing products.
The well-managed farm woodlot
is a valuable resource and the
Woodlot Expo provides an ideal
opportunity for woodlot owners to
learn from the experts.
Bruce Kropf, co-ordinator of the
Woodlot Expo, says professional
foresters will be on hand at the Show
to assist landowners with
management and marketing
decisions. "A healthy woodlot is
more than an environmental resource,
it can be an important source of farm
income," says Kropf.
Throughout each day there will be
demonstrations of wood splitters,
saw mills and a wood processor that
takes logs to firewood in one
operation. Kropf expects at least 10
of the major suppliers of forestry
equipment will demonstrate products
designed for the farm woodlot, from
chain saws to safety harnesses.
Again for 2003, the Resource
Managers Tent will be the place to go
if you are looking for information on
tree planting, nursery stock or
