New Equipment! New Technology!
Investing In Your Future!
When you're investing in new machinery remember without you the equipment doesn't
run. Without you the technology doesn't operate. WITHOUT YOU where does the money come
from to provide for your family in case of sickness or accident?
Like most people you are probably protecting your new equipment when you should
also consider protecting your ability to earn an income - UPON WHICH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE
DEPENDS. Income and disability insurance can be a part of your Tong -term financial strategy to
continue providing for your family and standard of living.

cows become accustomed to the
robotic milking system."
The Lely Astronaut Barn has been
re -fitted with cow mats and new stall
designs to replace the sand stalls of
past years. The Slurrystore manure
handling system, with automated
loading equipment, and a manure
digester will demonstrate the latest in
nutrient management technology.
Past surveys of show visitors
indicated manure management is
high on the list of priorities as
farmers upgrade facilities to meet
provincial regulations.
"The nutrient management
demonstrations were well attended
last year and we think with the
innovations added this year and the
expanded Livestock Central, this part
of the show will be 'must' for all
livestock producers," says Underhill.
The expanded Dairy Pavilion and
outdoor exhibits will be the place to
find many of the dairy industry
suppliers including the genetics
companies, feed manufacturers,
equipment and distributors of herd
health care products. Progeny of
several of the most popular dairy
sires will be on display and new
additions to the breed associations
represented at the show will be
Guernsey and Milking Shorthorn.
For 2003, a Swine Demo has
been added that will feature
live hogs and industry-leading
technology.
Underhill says the new Swine
Demo will provide producers with a.
unique opportunity to see the latest in
high-tech equipment in action.
The Demo area will showcase an
automated sorting system featuring
an electronic scale that weighs the
pigs as they move back and forth in
the pen to access feed and water.
Animals are individually weighed
and sorted automatically as often as
six times each day.
"The set-up of equipment and
hogs will replicate a typical situation
on a modern hog farm," says
Underhill. In addition to maintaining
a regular check on weight -gains, he
says, the automated system is a real
plus with today's concerns of
livestock handling and animal
welfare issues. Displays of other
automated weighing and sorting
systems will assist producers in
choosing the right equipment for
