New tools address rural health-care shortages
The shortage of health-care
providers has become a serious issue in
many rural communities. The Ontario
Rural Council's Rural Health Strategy
project has developed a series of new
tools and resources to help rural
communities address these shortages
over the long-term.
• a Rural Health Career CD-ROM —
created to encourage youth to pursue a
career in the health field.
• Rural Health Website —
www.ruralhealth.ca — contains rural
health-related information, links to
tools and resources, and an overview of
the project.
• Rural Health Forum Reports —
summary reports of forums held across
the province last fall and winter,
including a summary and analysis of
the asset workshops held in conjunction
Staying on top of the
issues
Some of the rural ag-related
concerns the Huron County Federation
of Agriculture Board of Directors and
Executive have been following in the
past few months include: Mad Cow
Disease (BSE), Ontario Smart Growth
submissions, Source Water Protection
Act, and the Huron/Perth Connection
project.
President Neil Vincent has been
doing radio clips on these topics. Your
Board and Executive work diligently
for and with the farmers of Huron
County by monitoring and lobbying for
support.
We encourage you to contact our
directors with any concern or issues
you may have.0
