Property Assessment notices - is your property in the correct tax class?
Property Assessment Notices have
recently been received. Please check
these notices on all your farm
properties. What does the Property
Classification description mean?
Farm Taxable: Full — means the
"full" taxable farmland tax rate on
your land and outbuildings, which is
25 per cent of the residential tax rate.
Residential Taxable: Full — means the
"full" taxable residential tax rate on
your house and one acre.
If you get an assessment notice for
your farm property that does not
show "Farm Taxable" Full", and only
shows "Residential Taxable: Full"
your entire farm property will be
taxed at the full residential rate, and
you will need to appeal to the
Assessment Review Board to try to
correct it.
