HCFA Annual meeting passes 4 resolutions At the Annual Meeting of the Huron County Federation of Agriculture on October 4, 2002 four resolutions were passed to be presented at the Annual OFA Convention in November 2002. 1. Therefore be it resolved: that OFA lobby Bell Canada or their company to use rural route addresses in their directories. 2. Therefore be it resolved: that the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, work in co-operation with other General Farm Organizations, Commodities, and organizations to implement a system of graduated companion programs and NISA payments distributed according to size of operation, that would allow distribution of funding, so that the maximum number of farmers, communities and organizations can be maintained. 3. Therefore be it resolved: that OFA lobby the provincial government to direct Hydro One to• act responsibly on this matter and to develop a method of supporting rural Ontario and reducing financial stress on farmers and rural businesses. 4. Therefore be it resolved: that OFA lobby the Ontario Government and the Energy Board to have the gas company pay for their own mistakes. Election results from Huron Federation Annual/Regional meeting in Holmesville were: Regional Directors — Huron South (Hay, Stephen, Usborne, Stanley, Tuckersmith) — Henry Damsma. Huron West (Goderich, Colborne, Ashfield, East and West Wawanosh, Hullett) — Marilyn Broadfoot. Huron East (Howick, Grey, Morris, McKillop, Turnberry) — Charles Regele. Convention Delegates — Huron South: Henry Damsma, Mike Becker, Pat Down, Wayne Hamilton, alternate - Carol Leeming. Huron West: Marilyn Broadfoot; Neil Vincent, Walter Elliott, Evert 48 THE RURAL VOICE Wayne Hamilton, is winner of the Annual Huron County Award for outstanding contribution to agriculture and the community. Wayne spends countless hours on the Internet seeking out information on Safety Net Programs and has done much in organizing lobby efforts for HCFA. Wayne, his wife Ruth and three daughters, sharecrop in Stanley Township. Wayne is a Past Regional Director for Huron South and is now the Director for Stanley Township, Ridder, alternate - Andrew Kaastra.
