Counts Federation of Agriculture and
the OFA Regional Meeting for Perth
South. Perth North and Perth Central

The County Annual Meeting was
called to order by President Burnell
Kipter.
Minutes of the'_001annual meeting -
tlored by Ed Danen, seconded by Larm
Bicsin,ger that the minutes of the
20)lAnnaal Meeting be approved a.s
circulated in the Annual Review.
CARRIED.
Financial Report - The Financial Report
for the year September 1. 2001 to
August 31. 2002 was presented by
Treasurer Agnes Denham. Mored by
Tini Shute. seconded by Ivan Stueck that
the Year End Financial Report be
accepted a.s presented. CARRIED.
Budget - The Budget for the 2002-2003
year was presented by Treasurer Agnes
Denham. Moved by Andy DeVries,
seconded by Willy Keller that the
Budget presented for the 2002-2003
year be accepted. CARRIED.
Elections for Presidents and
Township Directors
The tollowing were acclaimed to their
positions of the Perth County Federation
of Agriculture.

Perth County Harvest
Day Tour a success
On October 6 over 130 vehicles
ventured through the Perth County
countryside to visit four farms on the
Harvest Day Tour.
The Perth County Federation would
like to thank the farms that participated
in this year's event: The Hofer Family
with their Ontario Corn Maze: Donald
and Catherine Shaver. Shaver Beef
Breeding Farms: Ernie. Jeannette and
Jodi Wilson. Wilson Quarter Horses:
and Nick and Catherine Terpstra and
family. Birchlawn Farms Ltd. Without
their co-operation the tour would not
hale been possible. We would also like
to thank all the other volunteers s+ ho
helped at the passport pick up points
and those who helped at the farm
location,

Guest Speaker: Our Guest Speaker for
the evening was Gabe Del Bianco. He
spoke on Personal Wellness and how we
need to make sure we take care of
ourselves and have room in our lives for
the important things.
Annual Recognition Award: The
Annual Recognition Award was
presented to Paul Verkley for his
outstanding work with the Federation at
both the Local level and the Provincial
level.
OFA Regional Meetings:
Perth South Region:
Bert Vorstenbosch was nominated
and declared elected as the Regional
Director for Perth South.
Tim Shute. Agnes Denham and
Willy Keller were nominated and
declared the Delegates to OFA
Convention for the Region of Perth
South.
Perth Central Region:
Ed Danen was nominated and
declared elected as the Regional
Director for Perth Central.
Ivan Stueck, Burnell Kipfer, and Phil
Anwender were nominated and declared
the Delegates to OFA convention for the
Region of Perth Central. Cecil Rose and

An OFA staff member has prepared a
detailed explanation on the break-
down of your hydro bill. If you would
like a complete copy, please contact
your local Federation Office.
• The Rural Voice is provided to farmers
in Perth County by the PCFA.
Bert Groenestege were nominated and
declared elected as alternates for the
Region of Perth Central.
Perth North Region:
Andy DeVries was nominated and
declared elected as the Regional
Director for Perth North.
Bob Martin. Paul Verkley and Larry
Biesinger were nominated and declared
elected as Delegates to OFA Convention
for the Region of Perth North.
Resolutions:
Whereas there is concern about the
need to develop programs that assist
beginning farmers wishing to enter the
business. given the multi -billion dollar
transfer of farm assets that is anticipated
within the next 10 years due to the aging
of the baby boom generation and the
high capital costs of entry into the
farming business. and
Whereas. there have been previous
resolutions passed at OFA Conventions
and Board of Director meetings calling
for the development of various types of
beginning farmer programs.
Therefore Be It Resolved that the
Ontario Federation of Agriculture
develop possible programs that could
assist beginning farmers. and report
back to the OFA Board of Directors and
the 2003 OFA Convention

Burnell Kipfer was presented with a
Past President Pin and Plaque.
