TOP DRY
HOW DOES THE
G. S. I. SYSTEM WORK?
1) Grain is loaded into the upper chamber
of the bin, and dried as a batch
2) When the grain is dry, the burner
automatically shuts off
3) The operator lowers the dump chutes
with a winch, and the grain falls to the
lower part of the bin for cooling/storage
4) The dump chutes are cranked closed
and another batch is loading into the
drying chamber
WHY IS A TOP DRY A BETTER INVESTMENT
THAN A STIRRING MACHINE?
1) LOWER OPERATING COSTS
• Uses much less fuel because it recycles cooling air through
the drying zone
' No gear boxes, motors, or bearings inside the bin
* 100% galvanized construction inside and outside
2) FASTER DRYING
' 2 to 3 times faster per horsepower than a stirring machine
because of lower grain depth (30")

and transport. Through his company,
Calico Beef Consulting in Alberta. he
teaches courses and conducts
seminars across the continent. Twice
a day at the Show, O'Byrne will
discuss procedures for transporting,
loading and unloading animals in a
humane manner that is safe for the
animals and the handler.
Four different modes of
transportation will be on-site for his
presentation — a gooseneck trailer, a
straight truck, a pot truck and a
modified pick-up truck. O'Byrne will
discuss the state-of-the-art features of
these trucks that make animal
transport easier, safer and less
stressful for the animal. For example,
temperature monitors, ventilation
systems, feed storage, portable
ramps, livestock safety cushions and
more will be discussed. The trucks
will be provided by Luckhart
TransportLtd. and Ulch Trailer
Sales.
Those who want to take a break
from the exhibits can enjoy a

forming "Energy from Biowaste"
rural co-ops and details on one man's
hilarious journey from Bay Street to
the farm.
"We're really looking forward to
this year's lineup for the family
program," says Henrietta Coole,
director of client relations. "We hope
visitors will enjoy our informative
and entertaining speakers in addition
to the many exhibits and
demonstrations throughout the Show
site." •
In addition to writing gardening
articles for magazines, newsletters
and websites, Jennifer Moore owns
her own landscaping business and
also teaches and lectures on many
different topics related to gardening.
Twice daily, she will demonstrate
how to make cement alpine troughs
— planters made from cement that
don't require watering and can be
placed anywhere around the home or
farm. "Anyone can make these
planters. It requires a minimal
investment to start," says Moore.
Also returning to the stage is Dan
