The cattle handling demonstration will also be back this year, featuring a record four hi -tech units from the leading handling equipment companies. The demo will involve both calves and stockers. The efficiency of the handling units, the safety of the handler and the ease on the cattle will be demonstrated for each. Tim O'Byrne. a specialist in animal welfare who is also involved in the Transportation Expo. will be available during the handling demo to answer questions from Show visitors. O'Byrne will discuss humane livestock transportation procedures that are safe for the animals and the handler. After a successful debut at last year's event. the Swine Expo will return for the 2002 show. And so far, it's shaping up to be a superior showcase that's sponsored by Ontario Hog Farmer, Grand Valley Fortifiers, Farmix and Canada's Outdoor Farm Show (COFS). In addition to sponsored lunches for 2.000 producers, the Ontario Pork price/news centre board and a Swine Pavilion that houses a range of informative exhibits, there are also many new initiatives planned. "We added the Swine Expo to the Show Zine -up last year to accommodate the growing number of swine producers that were attending the show," says Underhill. "We're looking forward to another exciting Expo with more exhibitors and more to offer producers." Handling, milking, grazing, fencing and much more will be featured in this year's Sheep and Goat Expo at Canada's Outdoor Farm Show. With a flourishing introduction at the 2001 Show, the Sheep and Goat Expo will be back this year with a greater number of commercial and industry exhibitors expected to participate. Live demonstrations of a state -of -the art handling unit, sheep and goat milking, rotational grazing and an automated kid feeder will also be an important part of the Expo.
