The Rural Voice, 2002-09, Page 19i operate. The Cover -All Dairy Expo will include demonstrations of a robotic milker, an automated calf feeder and a manure storage system. It is housed in the Lely Astronaut Barn, a 70 -by -I20 foot fabric- coveredbuilding manufactured by Cover -All Building Systems Inc. As part of the Dairy Expo. the Lely Astronaut robotic milking demonstration will he hack for the third year in a row. A herd of 55 Holsteins will be used to demonstrate the technology, which attracts the attention of more than just dairy producers at the Show. Lely will also be featuring a new demo this year — the Lely Calm Automatic Calf Feeder — using 15 to 20 calves. Visitors can watch the calves "feed by choice" using this state-of-the-art feeder. In addition to the hi -tech dairy barn. there will also be a Dairy Producers Pavilion, situated across the road from the barn. Several producer -owned co-operatives will be exhibiting in the pavilion, including Jersey Canada, who will have a live animal display. Gencor will also feature a new Sire Daughters Display to showcase their prized bulls. Outside of the pavilion, commercial exhibitors will be showcasing equipment, genetics, feed and nutrition, pharmaceuticals and more. A pasteurizing machine will also be on display showing how on- farm waste milk can be pasteurized and re -fed to calves. A live carcass competition for beef cattle — the first of its kind in Ontario — will take place at the Beef Expo. Dubbed the Quality Carcass Competition, it will provide commercial and purebred beef producers the opportunity to learn more about the grading system, how their feeding programs are working, and if their product is grading where it should be. The Competition — which is sponsored by Ontario Beef Farmer, Norwich Packers Ltd. (norpac), Ontario Corn Fed Beef and Beef Improvement Ontario (B10) – is part of the Show's Beef Expo, which also includes a Beef Breeds Pavilion, cattle handling demonstrations and a diverse range of commercial exhibitors.
