The Drawer

One of the
10 best plays

Playing
August 7 - August 28
written by Michael Healey
In 1972 a group of actors spent the
summer in a Huron County farm house,
talking to their neighbours and creating a
show that documented the situation on
the farm at that time. The Farm Show
would go on to become an international
hit touring across Canada, into the U.S. and to England. In the 1990s
Michael Healey was working as an actor at the Blyth Festival and came up
with the idea of a play based on the lives of two fictitious farmers visited
by one of those actors researching for The Farm Show. The result. The
Drawer Boy, has become an international hit, with the Chicago production
being hailed by Time magazine as one of the 10 best theatre productions of
2001. Miles, the young city actor, learns life lessons from two bachelor
farmers and gradually learns the story behind their friendship in a story
that is often hilarious and poignant.
Sold out at Blyth Festival in 2000. Don't miss it this time.
