Eby wins BCFA Award of Merit

winner was Ellen Hamilton while
Dawn Overland of Wellington was
the Intermediate Champion Show-
man. Champion Junior Showman
was Justin Beyele of Wellington.
Dawn Overland also had the
reserve champion steer. Champion
steer was shown by Chris
McCormick of Brant County.
Twenty-five members from
Waterloo, Wellington, Halton, Brant,
Wentworth and Perth took part in the
show and sale. Average price for all
the calves shown was $1.29 per
pound. Showmanship judge was Keri
Hasson of Guelph and conformation
judge was Roy Chamberlain of
Shedden.0

From growing hay to showing
the cattle and sheep raised on it,
Western Ontario 4 -Hers showed at
the Royal Winter Fair that they
could be leaders in the province.
In the 4-H field crops compet-
ition, Craig Emke of Elmwood
took first place for first -cut hay
while Logan Emke came second.
In the prestigious Queen's
Guineas competition, Jamie
Whitworth of Grand Valley placed
third.
In the Knob Hill Farms compet-
ition for junior beef heifers, Doug
Johnston of Listowel had the
champion commercial entry while
Paula Darling of Grand Valley
had the reserve. In the Hereford
category, Samuel Vail of Denfield
had the champion while Holly
Plant of Chatsworth had the cham-
pion Limousin. Dwayne McIntosh
of Newton had the top Shorthorn
entry. In Simmentals, Kevin
McGuire of Clarksburgh had the
champion and David Wilson of
Mount Forest, the reserve.
In junior showmanship,
Heather Hargrave was first and
Matthew Hargrave was second.
Both come from Maxwell.
Reserve champion junior
showman was Keith McIntosh of
Newton. Champion senior
showman was Jamie O'Shea of
Granton with Shawn McIntosh of
Newton, second.
In sheep, Christopher Hopkins
of Elmwood won the Brian Beath
Challenge Trophy as champion
junior exhibitor. Annika Rear of
Ripley won the Jack Wilson
Challenge Trophy as champion
senior exhibitor and the Ontario
Sheep Marketing Agency
Challenge Trophy for having the
grand champion lamb.
In the junior barrow show, Joe
Dekroon of Dublin was champion
novice showperson and won the
Pfizer Canada scholarship. Dennis
Peters and Ryan Peters of Embro
won Ontario Swine Improvement
Corporation scholarships.0
