Lucknow area hosts Farm Hiker Tour
Kids love Farms and Cows: The
Huron Farm Hiker Tour. set for
October 1 from noon to 5:00 p.m.
w ill have dairy and beef cattle for all
to see and experience. The driving
tour of seven stops will also feature
horses. goats. bees. chickens and
even fish. People of all ages will
enjoy visiting Lucknow-area farmers
where hospitality and farming is a
tradition.
Roger and Elsie Pannabecker's
100 -year-old farm is home to not
only full-blooded Pinzgauer cows but
also to commercial wagon show
horses. like their four -horse hitch
team. Their many animals are quiet
and not afraid of people. While there,
look up and you may even spot
guinea hens roosting up in the trees.
Both anglers and novice fishermen
will want to see the Port Albert
Fishway. Nine Mile Steel Headers
Club members will be on hand to
explain the fish ladder and the tag
and release program they operate. We
should be able to watch salmon do
their mighty climb to their spawning
ground further upstream.
Along with the seven farms, there
will be se\veral points of interest
during your'scenic drive through the
Huron Farm Hiker Tour. Check out
the roadside viewing zoo hosting
animals like zebra. emu, gnu, camels
and ostrich at the Bergsma Zoo.
There are picnic tables for relaxing
and room for the kids to run.
Pick up your self -guided tour
package the Lucknow Community
Centre between noon and 3:00 p.m.
on October I. There is no charge for
the tour but cash donation boxes will
be set up for the Walkerton Relief
