The innovative producers could
certainly have a competitive
advantage in the 21st century,"
Rodenburg predicts. OMAFRA dairy
extension staff will be on hand to
assist with the on-site demonstration.
The AMS robotic milking system
will also be on display at the Norwell
Dairy Systems exhibit. This display,
complete with simulated milking,
will provide producers with an
opportunity to compare leading
technologies in modern dairy
farming. In the new product category,
Norwell will be featuring "The
Analyst", equipment that monitors
and records milk quantity,
temperature and somatic cell count.
Bou -Matic Dairy Equipment will
expand its presentation of equipment
at Dairy Expo and include daily
seminars on "Quality Milk 2000".
Dairy specialists from Canada and
the United ,States will discuss
systems and proper milking
techniques that will help dairy
farmers improve both milk quality
and herd health.

R
producers for a larger cattle
area have been answered this
year, says livestock co-ordinator,
Cory Van Groningen.
"A lot of our visitors are involved
in the livestock industry and this
year's show, with an extra street for
livestock exhibits, will retlect that
interest."
Gates, chutes and squeezes to
facilitate the handling of cattle will
be the focal point of the Beef Expo.
The adaptability and special design
of cattle handling systems will enable
several demonstrations of implanting,
tagging and de -worming to be carried
out daily.
OMAFRA beef specialists will be
back again this year to promote the
Mainstream Market program which
helps producers meet specific
requests from the marketplace. The
Ontario Cattle Feeders Association
will feature several recently
completed feeding trials, along with a
taste sampling of their premium
quality beef product, Ontario Corn
Fed Beef.
Beef isn't left out of the high-tech
wave at the show. Featured will be an
on-line sale of two Simmental
heifers. Beef producers anywhere can
check out the sale at www.
