running sawmill to be within the
display.
Several items come from local
Wellington area companies such as
the Beatty Brothers from Fergus,
Fluery-Bissell of Elmira and Templin
Antiques.
Black suggested visitors could
spend up to half a day within the
display.
"It's going to be a great display,"
Black said.
Robinson said changes have also
been made in the education
department.
"There is a special program for
grade four to six," Robinson said.
This year over 3000 will investigate
the source of pizza toppings in the
educational programming at the Elora
match.
With a new twist to the
educational side of things
"A Wedge of Wellington"
will teach students about where
ingredients of pizza and pizza
toppings come from. Agri -food and
educational co-chair June Switzer
wants children to be aware of how
and where food that appears on pizza
and on the table is produced.
"If you eat it's important, you
need to be well educated about food,"
she said.
In the Wedge of Wellington the
children will learn about soil, the
production of crops, and the
technology of agriculture. The
program was designed for children in
grades four to six as this topic is
suggested to study for these ages in
the Ontario curriculum.
Switzer expects another 10,000
students, of any school age, to take
part in a self -guided tour of the
plowing match with information
given by exhibitors.
"We hope to have 3000 children
very aware of how pizza is made and
10,000 children aware of agriculture
in Wellington County," she said.
Chair Robinson boasts of the
Wellington County residents who
will sing, dance and play their
instruments to entertain the visitors of
the 2000 match.
Bill Beatie, the entertainment
chair, said the diversity of the
performers will keep audiences very
interested.
"We have a really good variety,
for young and old with new and old
