Composting
manure makes
common sense
I am completely baffled by the
action of Kincardine municipal
council, as reported in The Rural
Voice where the council refused a
building permit unless manure
disposal is through a liquid manure
system.
One cannot help wondering if
these people live on a different
planet. Here the people of Kincardine
are offered a pollution -free system
composting manure, a system proven
to work, but the councillors
apparently prefer pollution to
common sense. One can only hope
that environmental groups stage a
positive action. This may not come
easy as they are usually only
experienced in negative action.
Kudos to the Brockton council for
approving such a system for their
citizens. I am sure that a year from
now the Brockton neighbours of that
farm will be a lot happier than the
Kincardine ones.
I am pleased by the letter in the
December issue by Dave Hern re the
cave-in of pork producers to the
bureaucrats in Queen's Park. Maybe
that letter will bring home the
undeniable fact that Ontario is no
longer a democracy, but is governed
as a corporation that attacks its own
shareholders, the citizens of the
province.0
