Every farmer thinks the farmer's share of the
food dollar isn't large enough. A few enterprising
farmers like the members of the Mornington
Heritage Cheese and Dairy Co-operative have
set out to take their product beyond the farm
gate. Along the way they've learned there's a lot
more involved in
manufacturing
and marketing a
processed food
product than
meets the eye.
Still, despite the
problems the
group now has its
goats milk
cheeses on store
shelves.

Producing sheep is one of the fastest growing farm

variety of options than most commodities. Chris and Gabriele
Boettcher of Brussels (that's Chris on the left) combine their
sheep operation with a biodynamic cropping system.
