Odyssey Group public consultation
The Agricultural Odyssey Group
(AOG) is a coalition of Ontario's major
farm organizations and commodity
groups. The AOG has a single task, that
being to examine issues that may
impact the agricultural sector over the
next five to 10 years and present policy
options and recommendations to the
farm groups and public policy makers
in a report that is due in the summer of
2002.
The AOG is consulting with
stakeholders in the agri-food sector, as
well as with academia and policy
makers in Canada and internationally,
as it seeks ways to ensure that Ontario
farmers can build on their natural
advantages and remain viable and
competitive in the light of known and
anticipated challenges that will be
faced in the first decade of the twenty-
first century.
The public consultation with
Ontario farmers is an important stage of
the Odyssey Group's search to identify
issues and suggest strategy that will
help ensure a strong and profitable
future for the agri-food sector. A
number of meetings have been
scheduled in mid-July to collect farmer
input.
Local meetings include Wednesday,
