Tips for horse

• The term "hand" is used to measure
a horse's height and is equal to 4
inches or 10 cm. But what is the
origin of the term?
One can assume that, in the past,
horsemen truly measured a horse
using the width of their hand and,
later, assigned the measurement of 4
inches to the custom. Can anyone
provide the original source of this

the hatching of mosquito larvae.
Mosquitoes have the potential to
carry a number of diseases which
affect horses, including West Nile
Virus and Eastern Equine
Encephalitis. Eliminate any area
where water can pool, e.g., old tires,
unused buckets, rain barrels or water
troughs. Automatic water bowls can
be easily installed and eliminate the
standing water problem. This wiil
decrease the breeding grounds for
mosquitoes. However, aboveground
water pipes can heat the water to
boiling temperatures. For further
