The 1I -by -9 -by -IO -inch 000ler,
similar to what many people use for
transporting boar semen, was tested
with four combinations of cooler
packs and newspaper, getting
temperatures as high as 13 degrees C
with one pack on the top of the
cooler and as low as -7 degrees C
with two or three ice packs
surrounding the thermometer. They
recommended insulating the vaccine
in newspaper to keep it from freezing
and using one cold pack on each side
plus one on top.
They called this a "stay for
lunch" cooler and say it can be
used for up to four hours.
"However, protect the vaccine
from freezing temperatures from the
freezer packs by wrapping the
vaccine boxes in newspaper. In
summer, park your pickup in the
shade, put the cooler on the floor out
of the sun, and leave the windows
down an inch.
"Although we didn't do any tests
with a styrofoam cooler outside of
our office, we recommend using it
for half-day trips or longer when
packed with freezer packs placed on
each of three or four sides,"
Anderson said.
The team did two sets of
experiments with a Coleman cooler,
14 by 9 by 13 inches, one within
their office and one in the trunk of a
car and in the interior of a GMC
Jimmy.
Again they recommend the use of
newspaper to insulate the boxes of
vaccine from ice packs because the
temperature can fall below the danger
point. They recommend using two
large freezer packs on the sides and
one on top, along with newspaper, to
keep vaccines cool while you, say,
stop for some shopping on the way
home.
If by some chance you're going to
be staying out longer, say overnight,
four packs will help keep the vaccine
safe from heat longer. In summer,
make sure you put the air
conditioning on. In winter, don't
leave the cooler in freezing
temperatures.
"With a little care you
successfully keep cooler
temperatures within the safe range
for vaccines for 18 hours."0

AerWay makes manure incorporation
faster, easier, and more effective
Now you can minimize runoff, and
help protect ground water
AerWay helps prevent runoff by incorporating
liquid manure into the top 8" of the soil profile
without turning cover crops over or burying
residue. Liquid manure fills the holes and
cracks in the soil created by the unique
AerWay shattertine action to minimize the
potential for ground water contamination
commonly associated with narrow -band. high
volume chisel -type manure application
techniques.
Only AerWay shattertines cut into the soil like
a blade, then gently lift like a spade to
incorporate manure consistently and evenly in
the soil profile.
AerWay even works in hay crops or pastures
for immediate fertilizer benefit from manure
application. Now, with farming's leading and
most versatile agricultural aeration tool, you
can apply manure with minimum disruption
and maximum benefit.
