The Rural Voice, 2001-01, Page 29The barn goes up. moose jerky. It is very delicious, tender, and nicer than beef, with lots of flavour. Incredibly lucky for a shot in the dark. January 15 - I must touch wood, but we have yet to be sick since we've come here. Maybe it's the cold, clear air, or the isolation from bugs. The view from the kitchen window is a winter wonderland, but the clothes are frozen stiff on the clothesline. January 18 - Three more moose walk across the front field. They stay close to the bush, then cross the river, and buck around, playing. January 19 - Today is -37°F with wind chill of -63°F, so it's easy to see why people stay at home.
