His parents were the late Mr. and
Mrs. Adam Schaefer. He was horn
at Chilton, Wis,, but came to this
district when a small boy, He at.
tended school here and worked at
one time for Hanna & Co, store,
Mr, Schaefer was inter a. merchant
in Timmins,
He married Luella McCool, of
Wingham, in the summer of 1920,
and in 1923 he moved to Goderleh
where he has operated a Indies'
wear and dry goods store. He was
a .member of Knox Presbyterian
Church, Goderich, and had been an
elder for many years. He was a
veteran of World War I, having
gone overseas with the 161st Flirt»
talion. Mr. Schaefer was a member
of the IOOF and the For'ester's,
Surviving besides his wife are
four children, Mrs, lack (Jean)!
Tudor, .St, Marys; Mrs, Gordon.
(Mary) Walter, Goderieh; John A.
and William (L, both of Goderich,
and seven grandciaildren.
