It opened with the opening ode, Mary Stewart Collect, 0 Canada and Grace. Following this, 16 people enjoy­ ed a delicious pot luck dinner. Ben and Earl Thompson entertained with five musical numbers as members enjoyed their dessert. Helen Lawson presented them with a gift. Dora Shobbrook had the lucky cup. Several people received j a present from the lucky draws held. Roll Call was answered by nam- I ing your favourite Christmas Carol. The minutes of the November meeting were read and approved. The Financial report was given by Helen Lawson. Correspondence read included a thank you from !Tom and Genevieve Allen and a receipt from Christmas Bureau for a donation. An appeal was received from the Frienship House in God- | erich as well as an appeal from the | Day Centre for the Homebound. The next W.I. euchre will be held 1 on Friday nights at 8 p.m. Dec. 29, Jan. 12, Jan. 26, and February 9. It j was decided to buy a new coffee percolator. Money was donated to Friend­ ship House and Huron Day Care Centre. Collection and Pennies for Friendship were taken up. President Marjorie Anderson in­ troduced guests Mary Hunter and Dorothy Coultes of Belgrave. They showed their craft of quilt making which they learned after taking a course. It was a very enjoyable exhibit. Mary Hunter read a poem “The Christmas List’’. Helen Law- son presented them with a gift. She also read a poem, “The Night Before Christmas’’. Margar­ et Taylor told about “The Return of Albert’’. Lois Elliott had a contest on Christmas Trivia with two sides. The meeting closed with the Queen. Cheerio Club dines out The December Cheerio meeting was held at the Hillcrest Restau­ rant at 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 13. The 10 members enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner. They had their gift exchange. Lucky winners of prizes for lucky cup, saucer and plate were Laura Lyon, Edythe Beacom and Vietta Hoggart. Mar­ garet Good read a different version of “The Night Before Christmas”. Church news Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Dec. 17 were Beth Knox and Florence Cart­ wright. Ushers were Larry Hoggart, David Whyte, Steven Duizer and Melvin Bergsma. Neil and Lisa Elliott lit the third Advent candle, The Candle of Light. The choir sang an anthem. Sermon topic was “The Light in the Darkness.” The Family Christmas Eve Ser­ vice is next Sunday at 8 p.m. There will be no Sunday School for the next three weeks. Both Junior and Senior Youth Groups will meet on January 6 at Brucefield United Church for a film entitled “A Man named Norman”. 12 play shuffleboard There were 12 people present at the Shuffleboard at Hullett Central School on Wednesday evening, December 13. High man was Lome Dale and high lady, Geraldine Dale. There will be no more shuffleboard until after New Year’s. People Several Londesboro residents en­ joyed a bus trip to Sarnia last Monday, Dec. 11. They visited the Lambton mall, had a delicious dinner and one hour guided tour of Sarnia’s Christmas lights. McKillop township council made several appointments to various boards as it began the second year of its three year term with its December 5 meeting. Reeve Marie Hicknell and De­ puty Reeve William Siemon were appointed the township’s represen­ tatives on the Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Authority Represen­ tative Committee. Councillor Lome Glanville was appointed to the Maitland Valley Conservation Au­ thority. Deputy-Reeve Siemon was ap­ pointed to the Blyth and District Fire Area Board while Councillor Sharon McClure was appointed to the Seaforth Fire Area Committee. James Ryan and Kenneth Flana­ gan were appointed to the Seaforth and District Community Centres Committee of Management to re­ present the township. Brian Camp­ bell was named township represen­ tative on the Seaforth Community Hospital Board. He will receive $45 per meeting for meetings of less than three hours and $80 for meetings longer than three hours plus mileage at 27 cents per kilometer. Council approved a letter of understanding submitted by Union Gas Limited regarding the fran­ chise agreement with the gas company. Council voted to give consent to the land severance of 49 acres for agricultural purposes on the east half of lot 5, concession 9 owned by Mervin H. Dietz. Council approved payment of $128,179.76 in general accounts and $8,755.33 in road accounts. After receiving a grant request for $15,000 from the Ritz Lutheran Villa board of directors in Mitchell, the council approved a grant of $1,000 for the home for the aged’s extended care conversion project.
