‘Micro Maniacs’ elect officers
BY JULIE ELSTON
The first meeting of Good Foods
Fast in Belgrave was held on
Monday, September 25 in the
Women’s Institute Hall with eight
members present.
The meeting started after the
members said the 4H pledge. They
decided their club would be called
the “Micro Maniacs’’.
Then the officers were elected:
President, Carol Hopper; Vice-
President, Jayne Vincent; Secret
ary, Ann Gamiss; and Press Re
porter, Julie Elston.
The members then discussed one
situation when their family needed
to prepare a meal in a hurry. Then
they discussed what they usually
ate for each meal. Then they
discussed whether each member
liked breakfast. The answer was
“yes’’.
Members made apple cinnamon
muffins. They were ready at the
end of the meeting. They were
really good.
Members discussed “Breakfast
Champions” and some good break
fast choices. Each member wrote
down three other nutritious break
fasts. They read about “Cereal
Sense” and “How Much Sugar
and Fibre are in Your Favourite
Cereals” and “Snack Attacks”.
They also did a snacking survey.
Did you know that in 1988 girls
spent approximately $5 a week
away from home and boys spent
$8.50 a week. People should pack a
snack instead of buying a snack.
They then read “The Snappy Snack
Alternatives Chart”, and discussed
the Home Activity. They ended the
meeting with the 4H motto.
