OCTOBER 1ft 1Q«Q UCW bazaar Oct. 18 The Burns U.C.W. meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon, October 4 in Londesboro United Church with 18 members and two visitors. Hazel Reid opened the meeting with a reading “How to know you are growing older”. A hymn was sung accompanied by Ida Lieper on piano. A General Thanksgiving was repeated in unison. Joan Hoggart gave a reading “A Good Thanks­ giving” followed by a hymn. Special guest Rev. Dave Snihur read the scripture and gave a Thanksgiving message. A hymn closed the devotional part. Renee Snell conducted the busi­ ness and gave a reading. Roll call was answered with a Bible verse and minutes of the last meeting were read. The treasurer’s report was given by Margaret Taylor. get well card was signed for Agnes Leiper who is in University Hospi­ tal, London and a 40th wedding anniversary card signed for Jose­ phine and Gordon MacGregor. The meeting closed with prayer. Memorial tribute The sweater of Mike Vincent, five-year veteran of the Brussels Bulls who was killed this summer in a car accident, was retired inaceremony before the opening game of the Brussels Bulls season Sunday. A thank you card was received from Addie Hunking. Kay Konar- ski thanked the U.C.W. for the get well card and gift. Correspondence was read by Renee Snell. Phone 523-4360 WFs first euchre Oct, 27 The October meeting of Londes- boro W.I. was held on Wednesday evening, October 11 at 8 p.m. President Marjorie Anderson opened the meeting with a poem, “Take Time’’. The Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada were repeated and sung. Roll call was answered by telling and showing a piece of hand-paint­ ed china. Helen Lawson read the minutes of the September meeting. The Financial Statement was given by Helen Lawson. A donation was received from the Historical Society for having their meeting in Londesboro Hall. Margaret Taylor gave her report on the Huron County Rally in Ethel on October 2. The 1990 County Rally will be held in Belgrave. It was moved to hold euchres again this year. The first one will be held on Friday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. at the Hall. Helen Lawson present­ ed Josephine McGregor with a gift on the occasion of her 40th wedding anniversary. Beryl Reid introduced the guest speaker Donna Johnston of Clinton who spoke on her hobby of china painting and demonstrated how it is done on a small plate. Hazel Reid presented Mrs. Johnston with a W.I. Cook Book. The lunch was served by Marg Anderson, Helen Lawson and June Fothergill. topic of Sunday’s sermon The 91st Anniversary Services of Londesboro United Church were held on Sunday, October 15 at 11:15 a.m. with Rev. Dave Snihur. Greeters were Garnet and Mar­ garet Wright. Ushers were Angela Horbanuik, Michelle Dillon, Erin Horbanuik and Lindsay Salverda. The senior choir sang two an­ thems, “Freedom Land” and “Nothing is Impossible” during the offering. The Keytones, Kelly Bosman, Sara Lyons, Deanna Lyons and Gail Lear provided the music. The sermon topic was “The Foundation of Prayer”. The Bible Study and Prayer Group meets on Friday, October 20 at 1:15 p.m. at Don and Lois Haines in Auburn. Senior Youth Group meets Friday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. for a campout at Margaret Whyte’s farm, a mile and a half southeast of Kinburn. Burns U.C.W. Tea and Bazaar is Wed­ nesday, Oct. 18 at the Hall. Huronview Fellowship time is on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 1:15 p.m. at Huronview auditorium. Boy’s Club Grades 5 and 6 meet on Saturday, October 21 at Hullett Central School 7 - 9 p.m. for games in the gym. October U.C.W. is Monday, Oct. 16, 8 p.m. at the church. Guest speaker is Mrs. Doig from Clinton who will speak on China. Greeters at the 91st evening anniversary service were Ed and Mary Salverda. Ushers were Dennis Penfound, John Hoggart, Ken Armstrong and Rick Archambault. Flowers on the memorial stand were in loving memory of Amy Bosman placed by the family. Special music was provided by the Mitchell Gospel Singers. Guest minister was Charlie Scott after the services there was a fellowship time downstairs. See your Funk dealer today. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Bob Madill and family in the passing of Bob’s mother last week. Congratulations from the com­ munity are extended to Orville and Nettie Newby who will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday, October 19. Cheerio Club visit SCHEDULE BY-LAW VILLAGE OF BRUSSELS antique display The October meeting of the Cheerio Club was held on Tuesday afternoon, October 10 at two o’clock. Eight members and two visitors were present. Members visited the antique display on the farm or Robert and Betty Batty on the baseline near Clinton. This was a very enjoyable tour. Following this they returned to the home of Beth Knox. Roll call taken up September Lunch was and Edythe Beacom. VILLAGE OF BRUSSELS PUBLIC MEETING CONCERNING A PROPOSED ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT TAKE NOTICE thatthe Council of the Corporation of the VILLAGE OF BRUSSELS will hold a public meeting on Monday, November 6th, 1989 at 7:00 p.m. at the Brussels Municipal Office to consider a proposed zoning by-law amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act, 1983. The purpose of the proposed by-law is to change the zoning on Lots 469 & 470, Registered Plan 194, Village of Brussels, from FD [Future Development] to Rl-3 [Residential Low Density-Status Zone]. The Rl-3 zoning would allow for the development of a single family residence and garage on the subject property, which does not have road access as required by By-law 16-1987. The location of the affected land is shown on Schedule A’ attached.
