Phone 887-9487 1,000 attend annual supper Mr. and Mrs. James Wharton and family have recently sold their home in Belgrave and moved to Erin on the weekend where Jim will be working on a large poultry farm. Belgrave neighbours and friends wish them all the best. Mrs. Dorothy Logan and her grandson Shawn Logan spent Thanksgiving weekend with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Americo Arruda and Michelle of Fergus. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Squires and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Trigger all of Carsonville, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene MacAdam, Clinton; Mrs. Robert Charter, Blyth; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Dal Bianco, Burling­ ton; Miss Laurie Charter and friend, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Coultes, Wingham and Mrs. Vin­ cent Makas and Alicia, London were Thanksgiving guests on Sun­ day with Mrs. Mabel Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rath of Mossley were supper guests of their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse Tuesday, October 3. The 40th Annual Turkey supper was held in the Belgrave Commun­ ity Centre Wednesday, October 4 with an attendance of approximate­ ly 1,000. Mrs. Garner Nicholson hosts WMS meeting Grey Township Council held its regular meeting on October 2 and passed a by-law authorizing an agreement for the continued opera­ tion and future perpetual care of the Walton Landfill Site. The agreement replaces an existing agreement from 1977 between the Townships of Grey, McKillop and Morris. The Road Superintendent wqs authorized to place ads for snow­ plow tenders and for a part-time snowplow operator for the 1989- 1990 season. The snowplow ten­ ders are to close on October 20 by 4 p.m. and applications for the snowplow operator are to be in by November 3 at 4 p.m. November 20 to November 26 has been declared Recycling Week in Ontario by the Ministry of the Environment and Council passed a resolution to endorse it as recyling week in the Township of Grey. In other business, Council auth­ orized for payment of general accounts totalling $49,139.56, road accounts totalling $80,723.28 and drain accounts totalling $1,725.86. Future meetings of Council are scheduled for October 16 at 6 p.m. and October 23 at 7 p.m. Business» The W.M.S. held their meeting Monday, October 2 at the home of Mrs. Garner Nicholson. The meet­ ing opened with singing “Come Ye Thankful People Come”. Scripture from Matthew Chapter J5 was read by Mrs. Nicholson. Mrs. Mac Scott read a Thanksgiv­ ing meditation and Mrs. Robena McBumey led in prayer. A poem “One day is not enough” was read by Mrs. Ivy Cloakey. Mrs. Hazel Dalrymple read a topic on the Phillipines. Roll call was answered by a verse on “Thanks”. Seventeen sick and shut-in visits were recorded. Mrs. McBumey gave the secre­ tary’s report and Mrs. Cloakey the financial statement. It was agreed to send for next year’s study book. Mrs. Dalrymple read a poem “Not by bread alone”. The hymn “What a Friend we have in Jesus” was sung. Mrs. Cloakey closed the meeting with prayer and lunch was served by the hostess. and Henry F.
